Becoming a student again while preparing for my solicitor exams has put me right back into the shoes of young learners. It has reminded me what it feels like to manage the pressure of exams that define your future, finding time to study whilst life keeps on going, and pushing through moments where learning something new feels overwhelming.
And yes — it has made me feel guilty about giving my students homework, but sorry, needs must!
The silver lining is that this experience has highlighted what truly matters from a student’s perspective – it shapes the way I teach and it’s why I’m here to help.
So, what am I all about? I provide structured, exam‑focused lessons built on three core principles:
-
Transparency - Clear expectations about lessons, fees, progress, and what students need to do to succeed.
-
Encouragement – Supporting students to believe in themselves and build a more positive attitude towards learning and the subject of English.
-
Explanation – Guiding students through the content step-by-step, breaking down exam technique, and providing detailed feedback on students’ work.
The experience behind my teaching:
With a strong academic background, including 3 Distinctions at university level, and a lifelong passion for learning, I bring a mix of real teaching experience and real‑world professional experience to my lessons.
I’ve taught at university as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, worked as an Assistant Examiner and Moderator for Cambridge International Education, and supported students from primary level through to GCSE as a private tutor.
Alongside this, I’ve spent five years working as a Paralegal and am currently preparing for my solicitor qualification - a journey that has deepened my belief in the power of words, clear communication, and the ability to express ideas confidently.
These experiences shape the way I teach: helping students build strong academic skills, confidence, and the practical habits they’ll need both for exams and for the world of work.
